Thanksgiving

Sorry for this picture which is out of order. I wanted you to see the guys who played Risk after we had dinner.
Lindsay and Jeremy, the parents of our two sweet and adorable little grandchildren.

It is Thanksgiving Day, and we are grateful for so much. Grateful for each other, and every one of our children and grandchildren. For our parents, and brothers and sisiters. We are so thankful that we were able to all spend the day together. We are also grateful for this great land and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Ricky and Jordan. Not only do they look alike, but have many of the same mannerisms.

Everyone made a pie, which is a little ridiculous, because there was too much, but it was fun to have a little sample of each. Rebecca made the double crusted Harvest Fruit and Nut pie, Lindsay made the cherry crumb pie with the little bird peaking out, Kimalee made the pumpkin pie and I made the pecan pie.

Rebecca found a really different recipe for the turkey this year. It was a brine made of 32 cups of water, 5 cups of chicken broth, a bunch of fresh sage, fresh thyme, a cup of honey, half a cup of salt, a lot of pepper, and you put the turkey in a turkey bag, in a stock pot, and fill the bag with the brine. Then you let it marinate for 12 or more hours. When it is time to bake, you take the turkey out of the marinade and the bag, rub it with olive oil and salt and pepper, and cut two lemons in half, squeeze the juice inside the cavity, and put the rest of the lemons in the cavity as well. It was the moistest turkey we ever tasted. Everyone was amazed. No dry turkey this year!

Our turkey table

Vanessa made the favors.

When dinner was done, we retired downstairs. The boys sat down for a loooong game of Risk. Sean was the first one out, then Dave. Can you tell by looking at the picture, who the winner is? Hint: The one who is beaming!

Answer: Jeremy

The girls and the children sat in the theater room and watched the movie "Clifford" with Martin Short. It was great until the end when Uncle Martin is so angry at Clifford, that he goes wild at Dinosaur Land. Bridger was slightly traumatized. The place caught fire, and the dinosaur was falling apart........Then we composed ourselves and played "Rock Band".

This is a video of Bridger trying to wake up Sean with his wrestling moves.

Someone discovered that they could make music, and it sounded pretty melodic.

Family Home Evening

On Monday night, we got together for Family Home Evening. Here are Vanessa and Sean with Bridger.

We had pizza from Papa Murphy's. Yum yum.

I don't know what is going on with Bridger!!! He was conducting the Family Home Evening. He probably has his arms folded for the prayer and was thinking of something very serious.

Sean taught the lesson. It was about forgiving others.

Jordan is wearing his animal control officer uniform and he is glowing....Rebecca, Dave and Jeremy

As I said before, Bridger is conducting....

Bridger is saying the "Pledge of Allegiance".

Now is singing "Jesus wants me for a Sunbeam", along with the rest of us.

Grandpa's home!

Grandpa came home for Thanksgiving and are we ever excited! Look what he brought Bridger and Kennedy! Bridger is the number one Florida Gators football player and Kennedy is his number one cheerleader. Go Gators !!!! ( I know you will love this, Lois....)

The little princess is playing with Lego. I was very careful to watch that she never tried to put them in her mouth. Go Kennedy!!!!

Bridger is snuggling with Grandpa, watching the BYU/Utah "Holy War" football game with Grandpa, in his Gators shirt.

BYU was massacred....

This is what I found this morning......I better go wake them up.

Thanksgiving Quilt

These aren't the best photos, but you get the idea. The whole quilt is appliqued, except for sewing the blocks together, and piecing the border. The appliqued pictures are handsewn by needle turn. It took eight months to complete. It was really hard keeping up to date on it, but I knew that if I didn't work at it, that it wouldn't be done by Thanksgiving.
