Sunday was a great day as usual. I once again taught the Sunday school class since I’m the teacher. It was a great lesson based around the Prophet Joseph and the revelations he has brought to us in these Latter-Days. After church there was a baptism, I had the privilege to baptize Sister Nthoatang Mokela. When I was serving in Lesotho as a missionary, my companion and I found this sister at home one day. She allowed us to come in as most people do around here. We could tell that she wasn’t having the best day and we decided to quickly talk about prayer and then to make an appointment to come back. We did so and we began to talk about prayer. She related to us that she stopped praying all together some time last year. We were surprised by her response and I asked why she no longer prayed. She related to me, “At the end of the last year I was coming upon my final exams for school. I studied hard and prayed over and over that I would be number one in my class that year, that I would have the best exam score.” She went on and said, “I felt that I did really well on my exams and that I had to be number one in my class.” She went on to say that she fell into second place that year and claimed that prayer makes no difference. I found it to be a rather funny story but took it serious as she did as well. I remembered that I told her that perhaps the other classmate that scored number one in the class was praying for the same thing. We described prayer to her and how to pray. We left that day not thinking anything of it. We returned as we promised and found two more sisters with us. All three of them were taught the Gospel of Jesus Christ. They all were again praying and reading the Book of Mormon, now all three of these sisters in the family are baptized. It was remarkable for me to perform such an ordinance. Nthoateng bore her testimony after her baptism. She said that she knows that this is the true church and the only true church of Jesus Christ on the face of this world. She said, “I know this knowledge from prayer and the feelings of the spirit that come from it.” I’m grateful for the restored gospel of Jesus Christ and I wanted to share this experience with all of you. Love, Addison
