Day at the Park

Today was a lot of fun! Ricky and I were invited to a "Day at the Park", an elegant day of equestrian excitement. We were to dress in our "spring attire" and the women were to wear a hat.

The architect who is designing the Horse Park, designed the Salt Lake County Equestrian park. That was interesting to meet him.
I was going to wear cropped pants but decided on a skirt instead. Good thing I did, because most of the ladies wore dresses and skirts.

The decorations under the tent were beautiful. All the centerpieces were fresh orchids.
Hors D'Oevres were fresh organic vine ripe tomatoes, sliced garlic and basic bruschetta and artichoke, olive and feta crostini. I had the artichoke one.
Our salad was Chef Felix's caesar dressing over hearts of romaine, garlic herb croutons and shaved parmigiana cheese.
There was a choice of three entrees which were grilled on site. I chose the grilled wild salmon filet served on a bed or organic mixed baby lettuces with golden raisings, walnuts, sesame seeds, green apples, house dried tomatoes, blue cheese crumbles drizzled with blackberry vinaigrette

It is tradition at polo matches, for the women to stomp the divots on the polo field. It seemed as though their reward was another glass of champagne. I refused many glasses myself.

There was an auction and this little 14 week old maltese dressed up in a tuxedo went for $2,500. I really wanted him, but Ricky said no.......

Dessert was chocolate truffles, chocolate dipped locally grown strawberries and petifores. We watched some steeplechase afterwards.

We had a wonderful time, the weather was perfect and so was the company (Ricky).

I looks gorgeous. The weather looked so nice. I wish it would stay like that here in Utah. I sounds way fun. I am glad you had a great time.

You look fantastic! What a great activity! I would love to attend something like that. How fun that you get to attend all these neat functions. In my other life, I would have a horse ranch with beautiful stables. I love watching the horse races and I love how the women dress up and wear the hats. I would enjoy that so much. I don't have anything like that to wear now, but if we had a different life and career, I think it would be so fun. You are beautiful! Truly Elegant.

"Horsies!!!" (says Bridger and Kennedy at the same time...) Looks like a lot of fun--the food and decorations looked great too. What are divots? Is it what I think it is??? Who came up with that?? :)

This is a very southern thing to do. This is my kind of romantic afternoon with my husband. If I had a husband that was romantic.

A divot is the hole that the mallots make in the grass when the riders hit the balls. Cindy, you don't have a romantic husband???? hahaha! I laughed when I read that. You write the funniest things!
