My Great Day

I went to my last class at Material Girls today. It is my last class because I will be moving and won't be here for the rest of them. Marianne and Betty brought goodies for everyone, hot chocolate, gifts and balloons, to bid me farewell. I sure will miss them.

This is me with Lori Holt. She is the designer of the "Comforts of Home" quilt that I am making, and the "Thanksgiving" quilt that I recently completed. She has designed many, many quilts and I am so happy that I was able to take two of her classes. She was neighbors with Shauna and I always heard how beautifully she decorated her house. I would see her patterns at the quilt shops and always wanted to meet her. I have learned lots of new techniques, in particular applique, from taking her classes.

Here is the quilt I'm working on. My TV has Andy and Barney from "The Andy Griffith Show" on it. There are still about four more months of blocks to go. Each month I look forward to seeing what the new blocks will be. Click on the picture to see a closeup.

The clothesline and the wing back chair are my favorite two blocks.

This is Beth. We have become quilting friends.

To finish off this great day, I had lunch/dinner with my dear friend, Mary Mikel. We have been friends for about 20 years or more. Mary moved from Florida to Utah, about 4 or 5 years ago. She teaches at a middle school in Sandy. Every month, we get together once after school and eat and catch up on all our news. My older children are friends with Mary's children. Mary's son Josh, was married the same day as Rebecca, in the Salt Lake temple. I would have visited with Mary, but I lost my shoes and was busy looking for them. That is still a bad memory....

When Vanessa was born, Mary came to the hospital to visit me and see the new baby. She would come to the house weekly, just to hold Vanessa. Those were good times, just like tonight. I will miss all my good friends.......
