Neo Kimberley

What a shock!!!  Mabulane went to the doctor on Wednesday morning.  The doctor sent her to the hospital because her blood pressure was very high. At the hospital, they determined that she had preeclampsia, and made the decision to send her by ambulance to Shands Hospital in Gainesville where they have an incredible NICU.  It's about a 45 minute drive.  Addison was able to ride in the front seat of the ambulance.  I saw the ambulance  with its lights flashing way ahead of me  when I left the hospital. I tried to catch up but there was too much traffic and too many lights.
The doctors were able to stabilize Mabulane, but her blood pressure was extremely high.  They wanted to wait until after 4:00 p.m. on Friday, to deliver the baby.
Today (Thursday), they decided to deliver the baby by C Section.  The doctors were worried about Mabulane's symptoms.  The only way to make her better, was to deliver the baby.  Poor Mabulane was so scared.  Addison suited up and went to the operating room with her.
First, the nurses did some final prep work.  They were working very fast to get Mabulane better......they needed to deliver the baby!
This is Mabulane and Addison just before they went to the operating room.....everything was happening so fast!
Addison took these pictures in the operating room.
Mabulane's baby will be born in 5 minutes!
Introducing Miss Neo (nay-oh) Kimberley Horst
32 weeks , 8 weeks early.  Original due date was December 6.
I don't know if you can see how little she is....3 lbs. 1 oz.
Neo has a breathing tube, but she seems very healthy.
She was born at 4:43 p.m. Eastern time.  After the C section, the nurse gave Mabulane some pain meds which made her loopy and sleepy. Mabulane's blood pressure was HALF of what it was before the C Section, both the top and the bottom numbers.  Just goes to show how high it really was!!  At 9:00 p.m., Addison and I went to the NICU to see Neo for the first time.  (When she was born, they whisked her away very quickly)  I couldn't believe how little her face and head were.  She lay very still, because she was a little sedated from all the magnesium that Mabulane was given through her IV.
The proud daddy with his new baby girl.
The proud Grammy.....Fifth grandchild.
Look at all of her hair!  Maybe when they wash it, it will be really fluffy!

Neo is Mabulane's mother's name.  She passed away about 6 years ago.  Kimberley is an town in South Africa where Addison served his mission.
Mabulane will be able to visit Neo late tomorrow afternoon, can hardly wait for that ♥

I cried when I read this post because it reminded me so much of when Caralyn was born.

Neo looks so good. I hope Mommy and Baby continue to do well. You all are in our prayers!
