Our Stake just finished a two day youth conference. A lot of planning, phone calls and even worry went into this event.
Friday morning, we went to church and listened to a motivational speaker talk to us about the scripture Joshua 1:9.
We then went to Lake Weir and cleaned up the shoreline and trails as a service. I am the Stake Young Women President. Our presidency (four of us) walked on a trail from the little lake to the big lake, about 10 minutes......On our way back, we became engrossed in conversation. We didn't notice that our walk had taken on a life of its own? It was so hot.....the sun was beating down on us, I was really tired......the heat was making me tired.......needed water.......where were we? My counsellors assured me the trail would eventually connect.....we were so hot......parched.......no water. Luckily, Kristin had her cell phone. Couldn't reach anyone at the park.....everyone had phones turned off! I called Sean's cell, it is always on vibrate. He told us just to turn back......I said it was too far away..........I told him to tell the park ranger to come and get us.....They aren't allowed to take passengers.......I told him we were by the alligator sign......The park ranger said we were far away! They decided to come after us.....We walked further down the trail to find some shade because the heat was so intense.....nothing like a 100 degrees in Utah......Finally the truck found us, two rode in the cab, two on the tool box in the back. It took the truck 20 minutes to drive back to the park. We had taken the wrong trail : ( We were so embarrassed making such a grand entrance, but we did receive applause!
We were each presented with a compass/whistle combo today, and President Graham had to reassure everyone that they will be safe with us as their leaders at girl's camp in a week.....As long as there aren't any slithery creatures, then I'm outta there!!!!
Last night we had a luau, followed by a dance. Here we are serving slushy drinks.

Peche', Kristin, me and Sharyl
This young man was creative with his drink parasols!!!
The music stopped, and..........
Everyone sang "Happy Birthday" to me. Sean came running over and gave me a beautiful bouquet of long stemmed pink roses.
Thank you Sean! That is very thoughtful.
The dance was a lot of fun! We danced a little and talked a lot!

Today was a grand day, the spirit was strong. We had a few speakers, Ricky being one of them. He spoke on "public speaking and self esteem". He kept the kids laughing with his magic tricks and funny stories. That is exactly what they needed, and everyone loved him!
Sean conducted the testimony meeting and it was incredible. He was inspired to give Leslie a Book of Mormon at school, and she and her sister Katie are being baptized on Wednesday. Katie bore her testimony and thanked Sean for introducing the gospel to her. She said "It is all thanks to Sean!"
I am proud of you Sean, you are my hero.
My son, Sean.
