Sean went with me to the Farmer's Market in Ocala's downtown square this morning.
I fell in love with these tomatoes as soon as I saw them!
This is the only way I like tomatoes, fresh and red and juicy. I had a red one for lunch and a yellow one for dinner, both with a little salt and pepper. Isn't the blue farmer's basket pretty? It looks like cardboard, but it is ceramic, Lindsay gave it to me for Mother's Day.
I also bought a bag of homemade plantain chips. They were thin like potato chips and oh, so delicious! They went really well with the orange, lemon and garlic Tia Mojito Salsa that I bought at the same booth as the chips. I ate those for lunch and dinner also!
After the Farmer's Market, Sean and I went home and prepared to go on a bike ride.
We drove to Payne's Prairie, which is almost as far as Gainesville. The weather was overcast, but not bad. It started raining on our way there but finished before we arrived. The trail we were planning on riding was 6 miles long. The scenery was beautiful, and we saw a huge wild turkey and a couple of hawks. I was so scared that I might see a snake or an alligator, but we didn't.
Halfly on the trail, the sky got really dark and we heard the thunder rumbling.
As soon as we heard the thunder, the heavens opened and we were immediately drenched. We had turn around a pedal for 3 more miles to the parking lot. I was so afraid that we were going to be hit by a bolt of lightning, that my adrenalin kept me going. I thought I heard an alligator rustling in the grass, but it was just the rain. Once a raindrop hit me so hard on the forehead, that it felt like a paintball. I could hardly see out of my glasses.
Finally we got back to the car, and we were cold. It has been 90 degrees, but the rain cooled the temps to 74. You are probably thinking poor you, 74 degrees! It is cold when you are "soaked to the brim, right to your skin."
We rewarded ourselves with a homemade Jersey Cream ice cream cone on the way home. I had sweet potato (it was almost like pumpking with cinnamon) and banana.

The wilderness survival merit badge was running through my head the whole time!
Hmmmm....I"m sure it was scarier in person :) And although you never saw an alligator--I'm sure an alligator saw you!!!
Those tomatoes look yummy. I am so jealous.
