Sunshine and Warmth

It was a beautiful day today, and it was an early release day for school.  Sean packed my bike in the back of his truck along with his long board and off we drove to the park, stereo equipment booming, wind in the hair and sun on the cheeks.
One of the things I like best about Florida are the trees.  There are so many of them and they are beautiful!

This tree looks dead, but it has little buds all over it, under the Spanish moss.  A lot of the trees shed their leaves in the Florida winter.  It was 72 degrees out today.
I heard a funny bird noise and saw a flash of red in the forest.  It was a gorgeous woodpecker and it literally climbed up the tree like a squirrel.  I didn't know birds did that.....It had a large wing span with white stripes on its wings.  I also saw a beautiful red cardinal on the tree next to me while I was riding my bike, but I couldn't stop because I was trying to catch up to Sean!!!
Look how high we climbed!
Sean just glided everywhere on his long board, as free as one of the birds I saw.  Meanwhile, I had to pedal and pedal, my bike didn't glide as well as Sean's long board!
I had to take this picture of the trees with their new little green leaves.  Spring has finally sprung.  Even though it never snowed here (there was a slight dusting in January), we had many frost warnings and had to scrape the frost off the car windows every morning and enjoyed the seat warmers in my car......I think it has finally warmed up and we need to enjoy it because very soon it will be so hot that we won't be able to enjoy the outdoors.  The azaleas and the magnolias and dogwoods are all in bloom.
