Mabulane

Mabulane received her patriarchal blessing last Sunday.

We were invited, it was really wonderful!

Mabulane wanted to learn how to sew.

She decided on a baby bonnet.

We are pleating the fabric, preparing it for smocking.

Mabulane is sewing the lace onto the fabric.

Voila!  The finished product, it is really beautiful, she has a skill that she didn't know about.  Mabulane's parents were tailors so it probably runs in the family.  I make Mabulane show the bonnet to everyone, and no one can believe how beautiful it is!  What do you think?

Now for the next project.... a table runner.

Mabulane chose the fabrics herself from my stash.
She is very meticulous in her sewing, everything matches perfectly!  I am amazed because my sewing is not perfect, I am not a perfectionist in that aspect, but Mabulane is.

Isn't it beautiful?  She finished it in about 2 weeks!

The back of the runner is really pretty too.  The next project is a smocked baby dress to match the bonnet.

Are you trying to tell us something about this new bride?
I love the bonnet and I can imagine the dress to go with it.
Is she? No, she couldn't be! But maybe she could be!

I knew that she would be taking up quilting and piecing. It's perfect.

Tell her, she's great!

I have been waiting for this post since Mabulane moved in!! I was so hoping she would learn to sew and quilt, because seriously she is learning from the master!! The bonnet is gorgeous and I can't wait to see the dress. Love the runner as well. :)

Wow, that looks great. She is very fast!!! I hope my stuff looks as great as Mabulane's. Way to go!!! It's alright to start on baby stuff I am deciding if I am going to start on a blessing dress but maybe not. I have roommates that have been making baby stuff for 2 years now and aren't having a baby for another couple of years. It is good to be prepared. Keep us up to date on all the new projects both of you are working on.

Hi Cindy,

Dallin is going to move into johns sisters house while to goes on her mission to Navoh (sp). It's up in the Ogden area. SO!

John will move his den into Dallins larger bedroom, and I will move my sewing machine into johns bigger den. Then I'm right at the bottom of the stairs and I will be able to hear the door.

Tell Lori Holt, will you please, that I have been trying to reach her and comment ever since we met in The Lavender House that one day. I really do want to do one of her patterns.

Cynthia remind me to tell Mabalane how amazing I think she is when I see her (if I forget,) I know it has to be in her blood because that bonnet is absolutely adorable!!! But also you are an amazing teacher to help her pick it up that fast! You go Mabalane!!!
